Lion City Soundscapes (LCS)

This paper presents a dataset of audio-visual recordings capturing characteristic soundscape environments in Singapore. It includes 62 one-minute excerpts representing different locations. The recordings were made using specialized equipment and categorized based on "Pleasantness" and "Eventfulness." The dataset is publicly available for download, aiming to support research on soundscape perception and related fields.

Singapore Soundscape Site Selection Survey (S5)

This study proposes a robust participant-led method to pinpoint characteristic soundscapes possessing arbitrary perceptual attributes. Locations were first selected by local experts, and a weighted k-means clustering was then performed on the selected locations. In total, 62 locations were identified as suitable locations with characteristic soundscapes utilizing the ISO 12913-2 perceptual quadrants, and are presented in Lion City Soundscapes.

Automation of binaural headphone audio calibration on an artificial head

This method article proposes a stimulus-agnostic, automated calibration procedure for headphone audio via an artificial head and torso simulator, with a LabVIEW implementation. This increases reliability and productivity, as manual adjustment of audio tracks can become labrious when the number of stimuli is large. This method was used to verify the usability of the pair of binaural microphones used in recording the soundscapes.

Urban Soundscapes of the World

This project is a global initiative aimed at collecting and analyzing soundscapes from urban environments around the world. It aims to create a public database of soundscapes and has collected soundscapes from over 100 cities around the world. The recording methodology of this project, inclusive of equipment and recording set up, were referenced in Lion City Soundscapes.
